Judy Graham Carter

Judy uses many techniques and mediums in her work. Her portfolio is comprehensive, from mono prints to complicated colour saturated mixed media images. Some are made using traditional methods, others are computer generated digital altered images.

From the mixed media with collage in ‘Wiltshire Landscapes’, to the abstract ‘Magic Tree’ series and the collection of magical ‘Esoteric’ digital images, all the work has hidden depth that the artist hopes will connect with the viewer.

Edie Hamblin Landscaping in Pastels

The creation of a painting that is satisfying to the eye is an exciting process. Practically everywhere I drive I see a painting possibility. Certain scenes resonate with me. I just have a sense that here is something I can get down on paper to enjoy at other times! I take snapshots and then back in my workplace I use the information as a basis for my painting. As I use the rich pigments of soft pastels I see images forming that say something about the view I enjoyed so much.

Melissa Anderson Studio

I paint flowers, still life, landscapes and figures. I am driven by the shapes and colors of the subject matter but only as a starting point. I am interested in the way the paint is applied to the canvas - brushwork and the mix of colors create the design. I am a contemporary impressionist painter. My canvas has a clear subject but I use color and tools to alter the design, softening the edges.

Usually the subject matter and source of a painting reflects the tenor of my life outside the studio. Flowers become important as they bloom in the yard, eventually making it into a vase on the kitchen counter. While drinking coffee, the vase beckons the canvas and brush. Landscapes and the magical horizon line draw me into the ocean line, the marsh, the mountain ridge. I often paint landscapes in a calm state with mystical wandering into the canvas. Figures, particularly female ones, can be especially alluring and mysterious. Who is this person and how does she fit into the room?

My paintings take on various stages. Usually the clean canvas is quickly covered in a thin layer of moving colors. The subject appears and I then start layering the paint to build the image, giving it weight. As soon as paint is applied, sometimes it is scraped and reapplied in another area. I start with brushes, often moving to pallet knives, layering the colors over one another.

Michael Gutteridge Arts

Michael Gutteridge is a painter based in Manchester, the North of England, best known for his distorted, sensually vibrant, urban landscapes of that city and its environs. In that respect, he is following in the tradition of Valette, L.S. Lowry and others but still with a unique, easily-recognisable voice of his own.

His paintings have been used promotionally by the University of Lancaster, the University of Manchester, in pop videos, in magazines, on the covers of books and made into postcards by the Manchester Tourist Office.

They are exhibited regularly in the Northwest of England, and are in private collections around the world. He will undertake commissions and some of his recent original artworks or occasionally series of limited edition giclee prints are for sale.

Julia Trops Canadian Artist

I live very much in the moment when I am drawing or painting. I don't claim any special powers or thoughts or connections. I do a great deal of thinking outside of the studio and have a severe inner critic who, once I shut that studio door, is not permitted to enter and knows he is not welcome. So, as a result of that, I feel my work is fairly free, and I can tell when when it flows. I enjoy creating work, but I enjoy it more when someone else can see or feel the result. I don't have much of a goal, it's just me and the paper or canvas and the medium. All the rest is just jamming.

Helena McConochie Art

I am an artist who paints large scale flowers, slightly cropped in oil paint. My flowers are not always in season when I need them so sometimes I take photographs of them when they are available. I am quiet fussy with which flowers I use as they have to perform exactly as I want them. My mother had an amazing garden so I have a lot of history around flowers with seasons, ability to cope with climates and soils, how to get the best result from each flower. Sometimes I feel my art is the same.

Sophie Dumont - Lights in Normandy

Sophie DUMONT’s abstract is not a concept, it is an approach where each canvas builds itself around a graphic design put into perspective by the colour.

The drawing can evoke the contour of a body or the meanders of a landscape. It is only the unpremeditated interpretation of a figurative idea which takes other shapes in space.

The canvas gets structured around a play of curves and lines filtering the lights.

It is in this refined structure that the palette of often contrasted tonalities enters. But the substance is never rough, drawing from its maturation of lyric effects which are the results of a creative work of the material. The knife shapes the material into successive layers which merge into a combination of sparkling colours.

The underlying presence of the different substrata creates this vibration born from the contrast between material and colours to give to the representation its own life, devoid of any reference. The eye of the viewer, far from being guided, is invited to travel freely in the canvas. His perception is only the expression of his own emotions, simply subject to the effect of modulations transcribed by the artist, and which explains this permanent relation between works, with at times changing aspects and mind, but that symbolize a coherent and sincere approach.

Lucinda Coldrey Fine Art

"When you buy from an independent artist, you are buying more than a painting, a novel or a song. You are buying hundreds of hours of experimentation and thousands of failures, you are buying days, weeks, months, years of frustration and pure joy. You are buying nights of worry about paying the bills, having enough money to eat, feed the children, birds, the dog. You are not buying a thing, you are buying a piece of heart, part of a soul, a private moment in someone's life. Most importantly you are buying the artist more time to do something they are truly passionate about; something that makes all of the above worth the fear and the doubt; something that puts life into the living". Susan Knaap

Susan Knaap is a New Zealand artist whose artistic career has spanned over two decades. During that time her art has traversed the styles of realism, impressionism, expressionism and abstraction. It is the latter which she now focuses on and through which she experiences the greatest amount of creative freedom.

“The process of becoming an artist has taught me how important it is to create work that reflects who I am so that I can move beyond mere craftsmanship and share something of myself in what I do. I find that abstraction – where I am able to focus purely on colour, shapes and mark-making – allows me to do that more readily.

While I don’t set out to paint to a specific brief, the concepts I gravitate to inevitably make their presence felt both in the process of painting and in the finished work – in particular, the broad, intangible themes that underlie life itself – concepts of time and timelessness, concealment and revelation, mystery and transformation, order and chaos.”
Susan’s paintings are lush, multi-layered works rendered in multiple mediums. Her approach is largely intuitive, where the process of painting itself dictates the painting’s direction. Susan’s artwork is defined by a distinctive combination of quiet, pared down areas of colour juxtaposed with fresh, vibrant mark making.

Abstracts by Norman Pirollo

Award winning artist Norman Pirollo discovered a passion for creativity at an early age. Having pursued a career in the IT industry after studying Computer Science, he has since returned to his passion of creating unique abstract art.

He is primarily self-taught in both the fine arts and decorative arts. Norman creates abstract art through macro photography He accomplishes this through a process he developed to create abstract compositions. The compositions are meticulously painted to depict an abstract scene and include important elements such as form, contrasting colors, light and curves. Rich vivid colors, curves and intriguing compositions are featured in this abstract work.

The artwork is then photographed at high resolution and transferred to quality art papers or canvas. Norman has exhibited his art at many art venues in the past few years, both local and international, and his work has been featured in various international magazines.

As well, he has recently been selected as a finalist for the prestigious NICHE Awards and a finalist for the Art Trends Artist of the Year Award. Norman currently resides and operates his studio in a country setting in Ottawa, Ontario.

Andres Villarruel MANGAS

Welcome to my World.

My passion for drawings was evident very early in my teens, after I discovered the smell of oil paintings at the age of 7 years old in the Studio-school of painting of my uncle ( Academia Villarruel ) in Leon ( Spain ).

I received my formation from 1953-1963.

The description of my Art is at once Poetic, Symbolic and Surreal. But it will be more simple to be called Andres Mangas.

A longer description of my work:
My work is a mixture of Realism and Surrealism, I am inspired by the Old Masters and by my idol Salvador Dali. The psychedelic and surreal is on most of my paintings and titles, the poetic, and the Symbolism complete the mixture.

My technique requires a high degree of organization and respect for the drying time. After the preparation of a fondation, I apply the color by transparencies ( glazes ) using pure colors. a technique that can be applied using polymerized linseed oil and resin ( Venice turpentine, and Copal ).

Transparencies, innumerable glazes, rich in detail in a smooth bill, united and polished with a planned improvisation and plurality of meanings seeking:
The Perfection of the Form, Color and Composition.

Andres Mangas

Laura Ceccarelli Arte
